Easter Parade

I watched “Easter Parade” with Judy Garland, Fred Astaire, & a lot of other people who are probably dead now. See? It’s that kind of sarcasm & bluntness that makes me usually not a musical person, the same way I don’t really dig most poetry. Say what you mean, & be done with it. I was expecting not to like Easter Parade (This movie was mentioned in “Dear Richard & Emily” when Lorelai buys Emily a DVD player & then walks up the stairs singing this). However, there were a few very Lorelai moments in this film, it was quite likeable & funny. Plus it’s in Technicolor. Nifty. I find myself longing for the days when a guy can be a balding, skinny, a jerk & still get the girl as long as he can dance. So to recap, “Easter Parade” I didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would. It’s a very light, happy film, it’s the kind of movie you watch when your mom visits. As musicals go, it ain’t bad.
