Emily in Wonderland

Posted by on Mar 22, 2012 in Gilmore Girls | 0 comments

Stars Hollow is always really a refuge for Lorelai; that is until Emily comes to town. Stars Hollow is where Lorelai raised Rory and where she lives. It’s only about 30-45 minute drive to her parents’ house but it’s her safe haven on Gilmore Girls.

However then Rory invites Emily to Stars Hollow to pick up some antiques. It’s pretty funny at first just because it isn’t the kind of place that Emily would fit in or even visit. However, she gets into the spirit of things by wearing a jogging suit. However, when she finds out what Lorelai and Rory’s life was like when they were younger it’s a rude awakening. They didn’t have much contact then and there certainly weren’t Friday night dinners. Then she sees the inn and finds out that Rory and Lorelai used to live in a shed; although it’s a very nice shed. This has drastic consequences when Emily sees the life that her daughter would have rather lead than to live with her.

Love, Daisies and Troubadours

Love, Daisies and Troubadours is really a life changing episode for the Gilmore Girls and also the season finale of the first season. We start off with Rachael leaving town and Luke. She had done this previously but always to follow her own dreams. This time she did it because Luke seems to be in love with Lorelai.

However, Lorelai and Max get into a fight over Luke in basically the same scenario and mid-fight Max proposes. She says that a proposal can’t be that way. It needs to be magical with a thousand yellow daisies. He apologizes and agrees. When she shows up at the inn to work the next day she hears Kirk and Michael arguing about a floral delivery: a thousand yellow daises which is Max’s proposal.

Rory ends up getting back together with Dean too. The season ends with the Lorelai and Rory running up to each other in the street of Stars Hollow both excited about their amazing news.

Sadie, Sadie

Sadie, Sadie is the first episode of Gilmore Girls in season 2. The name probably stems from the saying “Sadie, Sadie married lady”. This alludes to the fact that we are going to find out more about what happens with Lorelai’s and Max’s engagement.

Of course Lorelai doesn’t want to have her great news ruined by Emily so she doesn’t really tell her. This backfires in her face just because Emily ends up finding out when Sookie invites her to her engagement party. What’s worse is then Rory and Richard get in a fight simply because he doesn’t like the fact that she’s dating Dean and he is quite rude to Rory’s boyfriend. However, Emily commands him to heal the relationship just so that it doesn’t turn out like her painful one with Lorelai. Emily is deeply hurt that Lorelai doesn’t tell her about the engagement. However, instead of really finding out about why this happens she just becomes even colder than usual.
