I realized the other day that I have never read Alice in Wonderland, not even when I was a kid. However, I’ve always seen tons of adaptations of it. Plus, it really answered an age old Gilmore question for me, “What is mock turtle soup?”
In The Reigning Lorelai episode Richard keeps talking about turtleneck soup which then Sookie suggests is actually mock turtle soup. The only problem here is that I don’t know what that is either. Here is the corresponding quote from Alice in Wonderland if anyone else is wondering.
“No” said Alice, “I don’t even know what a mock turtle is.”
“It’s the thing that mock turtle soup is made from”
Read MoreMy initial thoughts on Parenthood was that it was being set up for failure. It was just too close to Gilmore Girls with Lauren Graham. I watched it and still felt the same way, it was ok but not great. Lately though I find myself tuning in anyways. Is it on the same level as my beloved GG? Nope.
Maybe it’s just because there is nothing else on Tuesday nights. GG was also on Tuesdays but it was actually good. It’s just weird to see Lauren Graham in a single mother role without the crazy cast of Stars Hollow characters. Everytime I see the daughter I think “You are not Rory”. Plus this week there was a sweet moment between her and her daughter’s teacher when he gave her a book to read. Then there was a mother/daughter fight about the teacher. Sound familiar? I think Lauren must be having some serious deja vu.
Read MoreI go through the entire series about once a year. This means watching a few episodes a week. Usually in the later seasons I start to wonder why I was so adamantly against these episodes. Then April appears and it all comes back to me. Sure, season six and seven is still better than every other show on the air.
However, I notice that my feet really start dragging about this time. Usually I will watch the first few seasons in just a few months. Then it takes me the rest of the year just to make it to the last few seasons. It’s always a relief when I start over on season one and realize how much I adore the show. Do you feel the same way?
