27 Apr 2009 Amy Sherman-Palladino where are you?

I don’t know what Amy Sherman-Palladino has been up to since the whole Jezebel James thing didn’t work out.  I like to think that she is stowed away somewhere wearing a black velvet hat feverishly writing a Gilmore Girls Movie.  Just so you know, that is all in my head & is not based in reality, but it should be true just because of the sheer awesomeness of it.

I was googling Amy because I wanted to know if she had a blog.  I was hoping that she had a “What I’m reading now section” that I could check daily & find new books.  She doesn’t seem to have a blog, or a myspace page.  What’s worse is that there aren’t even any fake Sherman-Palladino’s on Myspace.  I occassionaly get fake celebrities in my blog comments like when I say that Billy Blanks is the devil (the tae bo guy), but I’ve never heard from a fake Amy.

During Lorelai’s bachelorette party (When she was marrying Max) she calls Christopher.  Christopher said that the only person worthy of her is Bono.  Then Lorelai says something about how she wants to marry a young Tom Waits.

I love his music & I have to say I have a little bit of a crush on him.  Granted, not the way he is now, all married & older & all.  My cell phone wallpaper is a picture of a young Tom Waits & sometimes people think he’s my boyfriend.  I wish.  Tom Waits always sounds good but he only looks good in one picture & in that picture he looks very good.  Bono has not really aged all that well either.

10 Apr 2009 Al’s Pancake World

The worst part about living in a small town is that there really aren’t a lot of options for eating out.  We have a pizza place.  The nearest McDonalds is 40 minutes away & you can just forget about finding a Taco Bell or even a taco, anywhere in town.  Oh & Chinese food, I remember you from my days in the city & you were yummy.

It’s mostly the old car hop joints that no have places to eat inside.  I guess, a little bit like Luke’s Diner.  There is this one restaurant that always changes owners. They never get around to changing the sign which has a dancing chicken on it. It’s so interesting to see the different kind of cuisine that people think they can sell in a small town.  My favorite was when a Cajun restaurant opened up.  It only stayed in business three weeks.  I never made it there, but I highly suspect that it was Al’s Pancake World.

I was listening to a Frank Sinatra based internet station the other day.  I can tell when people aren’t Frank Sinatra because they are women.  I have quite the ear for music.  Then one song came on & I was like “Ohhhh, pretty voice.  It’s not Frank Sinatra because it’s a woman. It’s so soothing.  I could listen to this all day.”

By the end of the song something had happened.  My face was resting on my elbows & I had no desire to ever move, ever again.  Then I looked up to see who the singer was….Ella.  It was exactly what happened to Sookie, Lorelai, Michel & Rory when they were trying to pick out Sookie’s wedding song.  I love Ella, but it was Gilmore de ja vu.
