Riding the bus with my sister

I watched the movie “Riding the Bus with My Sister” before it was mentioned on The Gilmore Girls. I love to make fun of stuff, & I’m one of the more sarcastic people out there. However, I just didn’t have the heart in me to mock this movie.

Hallmark movies always make me sob. This movie was especially powerful because it is based on a memoir of Rachel Simon taking care of her sister Beth. Rosie O’Donnell did a splendid job acting, which is not something I ever thought I’d say. The movie is definitely worth watching, but be sure to have tissues on hand.

I wanted to watch this movie when I saw a little bit of it on the show. It sounds really good. By the way, I found some books that were on the show and I thought I’d let you know.
-The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. This is the book Rory is reading at Martha’s Vineyard while sitting on the couch.
-Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut. Jess reads this when he first is meeting Rory and when she calls him to talk for the first time.
-Manticore by Robertson Davies. They talk about this book when Rory and Lorelai are meeting with the Harvard alumnus and eating lunch with him.
-I’m With the Band: Confessions of a Groupie by Pamela des Barres. Lorelai reads this one.
-Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk by Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain. Jess recommends this one for Rory when she is tutoring him.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I just wanted to say how much I love your site! The new layout is beautiful. I love reading about your Gilmore Girl filled days. Its nice to know that someone else loves them as much as I do and still thinks about them on a regular basis.

i think there are people who still love and watch gilmore girls – even if there are no new episodes. i wish one day, there will be another season or a film. till that day, i´ll keep on reading this site, watch gilmore girls and try to become as they are. that´s a nice aim 🙂

I had to read the book Riding the Bus with My Sister which Rachel Simon wrote last year along with everyone else at my school. Everyone hated it. It’s an okay book, and it probably would have been better if it was a required read.
