Michelle Kwan-ing

I love in the Thanksgiving episode of Gilmore Girls when Rory questions if they’ll be able to eat so many dinners & Lorelai uses Michelle Kwan-ing as a verb to explain they won’t fail. Let me explain this Gilmoreism so we can all agree to say it, a lot. Michelle Kwan is a figure skater. She is the “most decorated figure skater in U.S. history” according to wikipedia. She won nine U.S. Championships & five World Championships.
I remember the 1998 Olympics very well. Everyone expected Michelle Kwan to take gold. In fact, after her last skate she pumped her arms up in the air because Michelle & everyone else thought that she had just won the gold medal. Instead, Tara Lipinski ended up with the gold & Michelle with the silver. Hence, the phrase Michelle Kwan-ing. I don’t say that nearly enough. Neither do other people.
i say you write a newsletter entitled The Michelle Kwan-ning Quarterly. i have no idea why.

I have been reading your site entries for about a year now. I’m happy that you keep updating it though Gilmore Girls ended.

Ohh and by the way, you also write about Gilmore fashion. So I wanted to ask about the girls rooms. I want a house like theirs, with the funky preps and such… have any ideas???
