It’s pathetic I know

I was just watching “House” & the patient’s mom looked familiar. Within seconds I was saying, “Oh, it’s Maureen’s, Sherry’s friend that appeared in both the Dear Emily & Richard episode as well as the baby shower episode”. Apparently she was also the original Martha Kent on “Smallville”, she was also on “Pay it forward”.

I tried to name all of the fifty states a few weeks ago because I was inspired by an episode of “Friends”. I can’t remember Oklahoma, but I can spot a minor Gilmore Girls character from a mile away.

Rory’s Book Club: Sacred Time

Do you remember that episode of Friends where Monica gives the toast at her parents anniversary with the intent of making everyone cry so she  dredges up memories of their grandmother & dead dog? “Sacred Time” by Ursula Hegi reminded me of that scene. It wasn’t a bad book, but it seemed forced, like it had been written with the intent to make people cry or gasp in disbelief. This book follows three generations in Brooklyn. When I finished this book I thought “eh”. It was just another book to me with pages & words. Again, it’s not a bad book, it just didn’t stand out from Rory’s Book Club list. On my pop tart rating scale it would be:

Rory’s Book Club: A Month of Sundays

I’ve been eagerly awaiting reading A Month of Sundays by Julie Mars ever since I started reading through Rory’s Book Club list. Who wouldn’t want to read a true account of an author who went to a different church every Sunday for 31 weeks trying to resolve her feelings about her sister’s death? How cool does that sound? Pretty darn cool is the answer.

Plus, I think that this was the last book that was ever added to the book list. It was interesting to see an objective perspective on so many different types of religion, she even attended my church. At first it bothered me that she wasn’t really looking to join a church, but I think it was enough that she was looking for peace wherever she could find it.
