Rory’s Book Club: One flew over the cuckoo’s nest

There’s not a lot to say about “One flew over the cuckoo’s nest” by Ken Kesey. Again, it’s a book that I should’ve read in high school, but was never assigned. This is a good book but it only gets two pop tarts because I just couldn’t handle it, it was that disturbing. If this book were at the Academy Awards, it would win, while all the celebrities smiled & tried to not shudder. Well, a book can never win an Academy Award, but if it could, this book would. See? I’m not doing good sentence making this was so disturbing. See? I’m writing pearls of wisdom like “good sentence making”.

Most books I make my way through just fine, but this really needs someone to guide you through it. Some words that come to mind: disturbing & scary beyond imaginable belief. It wasn’t like some of the other books that I didn’t understand, like Kafka. I understood what happened, I just didn’t understand WHY, & if anyone would like to explain it, I’d appreciate it.

  1. I’m reading this book at the moment and you’re right, it is disturbing. the fact that Ken Kesy wrote it from the point of view of someone in a psychiatric ward certainly didn’t help. Very good though… And hey apparently it’s been made into a movie too. Maybe that would shed some light?
