Rory’s Book Club: The Secret Life of Bees
|
Category: Book Reviews

“The Secret Life of Bees” by Susan Monk Kidd reminds me of “To Kill a Mocking Bird”. “To Kill a Mocking Bird” reminds me of Gregory Peck. I like Gregory Peck. Therefore, I like this book. “The Secret Life of Bees” is the journey of a 14 year old girl in the South in 1964. Lily Owens is on a quest to find out about her mother’s life & death. However, this book wasn’t as good as “To Kill a Mocking Bird”, so it’s like comparing an apple & a slightly spoiled apple. On the Sarakastic meter this would score a solid 5.2 out of 10. It would be entirely forgettable without my Gregory Peck association. To join Rory’s Book Club check out the link at the top of the page.

Another book removed from my “Gee, maybe I should read that” pile - thank you!!! I’m not a huge Gregory Peck fan and I’ve never read To Kill a Mockingbird (I know, embarassing) but if this book is only a 5.2 WITH the associations, I suspect I can get through life without it.
I LOVE Sarakastic and the Sarakastic meter

I have to point this out — it’s “To Kill a Mockingbird” not “To Kill a Mocking Bird”. That bugged me for some reason. Anyways, I am currently in the process of reading “The Picture of Dorian Gray” and “Pygmalion”
loving both.
