The title of this book really says it all “The Bielski Brothers : The True Story of Three Men Who Defied the Nazis, Built a Village in the Forest, and Saved 1,200 Jews” by Peter Duffy. So this book is about these three brothers who, well defied the Nazi’s, built a village in the forest & saved 1,200 Jews. The truly amazing part of this book is that more people don’t know about these incredible men who did something of this magnitude. The brothers never received much recognition for this book during their lives, but they were heroes. They took care of everyone that came to them, the elderly, the sick, not just people who would be good fighters or who had money or skills. The only difficult part of this book was that it was all written mostly in the 3rd person past tense. None of those pesky pronouns or dialogue to worry about. It took some getting use to, but the story was so mesmerizing that soon passed. This book reminded me that you never know when you will change the world. I’m not good at math, but there have to be lots of descendants from the people they saved, & the Bielski brothers should be honored for such.
