If you were writing a show & you had the main character marry someone other than her love interest of the past seven years, you would follow up the next episode with:
A. Some reason behind Lorelai’s choice, elaborate on the details. Have her family/friends/town deal with the aftermath.
B. Have an inane storyline of Rory & Logan fighting, a boring party they attended that made me wish my remote had sharp corners so I could gouge my eyes out, & have April end up in the hospital with appendicitis.
The answer is obviously B. Logan is moving to New York City. Usually when a main character makes a reappearance on a show I am not saddened. I do think that he should move FURTHER away, like Antarctica. I feel a little bit guilty about that. Not nearly as guilty as I feel for thinking “April could get amnesia & forget she’s Luke’s daughter, & I’d be fine”. Last time I checked a high fever wasn’t a sign of amnesia, but it should have been. April should just forgot to show up at the set. Now that is a storyline.
I did not like Logan’s hair. It’s bad enough that he has to come back & that he’s a jerk. Now his hair looks like it’s been cut with a “flowbee”. (That vacuum attachment that also cuts hair, because the world really needed that). Lorelai cooked snails. Lorelai would never attempt to cook anything. Bah, I say bah. Also, Rory was trying to be a society reporter. She is supposed to be the next Christiane Amanpour. Again, bah.
Now for the positives. I liked that Rory was wearing that cute tapestry coat that she lent to Doyle in Season 6. TV shows don’ t usually recycle their wardrobes, but real people do. Just one more sign that the “Gilmore Girls” are in fact actual people. I also liked the continuity of Rory & GiGi having to share a room, I didn’t think about that. The writers were thorough on that. Even Rory being upset about the elopement was ok because I think she is secretly a Luke & Lorelai Fan. I also like that Logan’s bad hair was nowhere near compared to Jess’ girl haircuts. The ending where Luke was watching “A Philadelphia Story”, alluding to his trying to get Lorelai back was interesting. I also like that Lorelai told Christopher of her visit to see Luke at the hospital. That was what was always missing with Lorelai & Luke, the communication. So why are they already trying to break them up?
