What’s wrong with Season 7

Filed under: Gilmore Girls • Comments: 5

Besides the fact that every character is being untrue to what we have known them to be for 6 years. (There wasn’t a new episode tonight, so a rant will have to suffice). The problem with this seasons “Gilmore Girls” is that suddenly the girls are actually doing things. The premise of the show has always been simple: the girls talk about things, really really fast after they happen. This is the show that I have grown to love. The “Gilmore Girls” do not: witness car crashes, play racquetball, or go to Paris. We haven’t seen most of the significant moments on this show, we didn’t see Rory & Jess’ car crash, we didn’t even see when Luke proposed, we didn’t even have that flashback moment where we see Lorelai hold Rory as a baby for the first time. Suddenly it seems like every episode is on location. Just let my girls sit & drink coffee & talk really, really fast. It’s what they do best.

Rory’s Book Club: The Portable Dorothy Parker

Filed under: Book Reviews • Comments: 2

The Portable Dorothy Parker (Viking Portable Library) I’m not usually a big fan of poetry. I usually just think “Why the crap do you not just say what you mean?”. So I didn’t buy “The Portable Dorothy Parker” even though it was on Rory’s book club list. Instead, I cheated & went to the library & checked out “The Collected Poetry of Dorothy Parker” which is 200 pages long. I know that the “Gilmore Girls” love Dorothy Parker.  Their production company (at least seasons 1-6) was named “Dorothy Parker Drank Here”. She has been mentioned several times in various episodes. I viewed the poetry as a punishment, & expected that it would take me several weeks to get through. I did not expect that I would read the entire thing in one sitting, wishing I had gotten the 700 page version. I also did not expect that I would then google Dorothy Parker & then e-mail my findings to everyone I knew. I so want to share some of her poems, but I don’t want to break any copyrights.  Instead I’ll just have to think of them & chuckle. This book is a must have for any Gilmore fan, or woman or human. Another great introduction made by the Gilmore Girls. (And yes I will be buying more Dorothy Parker.)

Need Something? Just Ask

Filed under: Gilmore Links • Comments: None

Unless you ask something that is hard, or something that I just don’t wanna do. The lovely Krista asked for more detailed recaps because she doesn’t have cable. (”Gilmore Girls” is the only reason I have cable) Although I love being Krista’s only source of information on the subject (this means that I am also the best at least to her), I feel duty bound to share a site with scene by scene recaps. I am usually too busy throwing things & yelling at the TV to be that detailed. Remember, I am your favorite.

What’s up with “Hello Kitty”?

Filed under: Gilmore Girls Fashion • Comments: 5

Hello Kitty Computer Mousepad - KT4000 Blogging can be stressful. Like today I spent two hours doing “Hello Kitty” research. I know what “Hello Kitty” is. In any department store whenever I see something pink & say “that’s cute”, “Hello Kitty” is the face that is inevitably peering up at me before I say “Ohhh” all disappointed & put whatever it is down. There’s “Hello Kitty” computers, DVD players, alarm clocks, & even postcard holders, which I desperately need. That is what is missing in my life, a novelty postcard holder. So why all the hype over a floating anime cat head? The Gilmore Girls reference “Hello Kitty” all the time so it was up to me to find out what is this all about.

I was going to originally post my findings in this paragraph.  I’ve looked & looked, & I don’t have anything solid that “Hello Kitty” is besides a merchandising gimmick.  At least the “Power Rangers” are also a cartoon. What is “Hello Kitty”? I think of her as the Paris Hilton of the cartoon world, she’s everywhere but no one knows exactly why. An enigma, that’s right “Hello Kitty” is an enigma.

Check out the official site for some “Hello Kitty” games. You can match “Hello Kitty’s” bow to her outfit (I failed miserably, stupid college which provided no street skills). They even have a story generator with which I manufactured the following gem:

“New Year’s Eve was coming up and Hello Kitty was planning a pretty party at Luke’s Diner. She sent invitations to all of her closest Whiffenpoofs, then went to buy Seasons, to decorate with. This would look bloaty hanging on the Rory, said her twin sister, Mimmy. After leaving the store with a bag full of bulwarks, Hello Kitty decided to go to the Jess shop to get yummy pop tarts for her friends to yammering. These fuzzy alarm clock-filled fries look delicious! she told the shopkeeper. And I will take some of that fruit coffee to eats, too! she added. Finally, it was new year’s eve. All of Hello Kitty’s shoes arrived wearing devoutness cop rock DVD’s. Cooper Boom!! announced Hello Kitty as she greeted her friends. Just before midnight, they all held eggless egg salad sandwiches and counted down the seconds. When the clock struck 7, everyone screamed Oi with the poodles already, and threw their Gilmore’s in the Lorelai.”

I know amazing isn’t it? The Pulitzer is mine this year!!! Oh & if you happen to know why “Hello Kitty” is so popular, do leave me a comment & let me know.
