15 Aug 2006 Loralei Gilmore Jacket
 |  Category: Gilmore Girls Fashion  | Leave a Comment

iconicon You have to admire a show where even the chef’s jackets are cute. Loralei’s clothes are some of my favorite on “Gilmore Girls”. A must have for anyone who envies Loralei Gilmore’s fashion sense is a velvet jacket. Loralei’s jacket is teal, but choose whatever color looks the best & will be the most versatile for you. You can wear a velvet jacket with most anything, and it’s a very popular trend right now. It looks great with jeans & a camisole as seen here, or to add a little modesty to a dress for Friday night dinners. Plus it’s an easy way to convert your summer wardrobe for fall & winter. It’s a great investment piece because it changes your entire wardrobe all by itself. Who do you think has the best clothes on Gilmore Girls?

14 Aug 2006 Rory’s Book Club Review: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
 |  Category: Book Reviews  | One Comment

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (Vintage Contemporaries) I’m sarcastic, or as I like to call it Saracastic (cause my name is Sara), and I make fun of stuff or hate things, it’s what I do. However, I hearted this book. Books like “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” by Mark-Haddon are why reading was invented. This has so far been my favorite book from Rory’s book club. This is a book that I will buy as it needs to be read over and over again. I keep a journal of all my favorite life changing quotes from the books that Rory reads, I had to stop during this book because it was basically becoming a transcription. This book is about an autistic youth trying to find his way in the world, and includes the most precious definition of love I’ve ever heard. The only drawback to this book was that there was some strong language, therefore making it inappropriate for certain age groups or convictions, but I wouldn’t let that stop you on this. “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” should be required reading for the human race. By the time I finished this book I wanted to kiss the picture of Mark Haddon on the dust jacket. Thank you Mr. Haddon for your contribution to the world.  When I get really excited about something I type in one long paragraph, does it show? Want to join Rory’s Book club? Look in the sidebar for the official site, pick a book, and you can always leave your comments, reviews, ideas here with us, unofficially of course.

14 Aug 2006 How to Find the Perfect Man
 |  Category: Gilmore Dating  | 7 Comments

Give up, he doesn’t exist. I didn’t believe in the perfect man, or even a decent man, until I “met” Luke from Gilmore Girls. Admittedly, I still haven’t found a Luke, but it’s not my fault men are so lame :P However, I’m going to keep looking and being happy. Thanks to Problogger for the group writing project on lists. This project even has $1250 in prizes so check it out. These are dating tips that I’ve learned from the TV show “Gilmore Girls” on how to find the perfect man.

1. Be cool. Live your life and be friendly to people, and don’t place your first name with the last name of every man you see. (I know, I’m guilty of this too, I have ruled out the last names Lee, Parker, and Ferguson because my first name is Sara.) Apparently that scares off men, I can’t imagine why. If you are relaxed and just genuinely get to know people, you will find a lot of dating opportunities through friends.

2. Look your best. Some people swear that grocery stores are the best places to pick up men. Lorelai met Luke in a diner, and if she hadn’t of brushed her teeth that morning, things probably wouldn’t have taken off.

3. Sort. Let’s face it, there’s a lot of losers out there (sorry guys). It’s a lot like doing laundry, you’ve just got to go through and see who works and who doesn’t. At times it seems like there is never going to be a “perfect” person, so you mine as well be with a mediocre guy. Maybe there is no perfect person, but as my Mom always told me “If you don’t think he/she is the best person in the world for you, you shouldn’t be with them.”

4. Patience. It took Luke & Lorelai five years to get together. Through this time they both dated other people, but they didn’t settle. A good match takes time.

5. Don’t give a darn. Nice how I held back on the swearing huh? Lorelai Gilmore found Luke because she was her own person. She doesn’t need him, she loves her life anyways. She is independent and has her friends, movie nights, business, & daughter and she is happy. This is a very attractive quality, plus if by chance you don’t find your Luke, you don’t lose anything, you’ve still been happy.

Is there anything I left out? How did you find your Luke/Lorelai, leave a comment and let me know.

12 Aug 2006 Gilmore Girl Jewelry: Rory
 |  Category: Gilmore Jewelry  | Leave a Comment

Like Mother, Like Daughter (Gilmore Girls, No. 1) Rory’s jewelry style combines the funkiness of Lorelai with the properness of Emily, the way she bridges all other gaps between the two. We’ve watched Rory grow up on the show, and through the years her hair, clothes and accessories have changed, but to truly become Rory Gilmore you will need:

1. Silver choker: Keep this a simple sterling silver choker with either black or red beads. Rory wears very dainty delicate necklaces that are very plain. Use a necklace as opposed to a pendant and chain.

2. Delicate dangle earrings. Try a change from the large bohemian chandelier earrings that are style. Use a delicate sterling silver earring that is barely noticeable to add a feeling of femininity. like these tanzanite and white gold earrings.

3. Maybe it’s just because I always picture Alexia Bledel as our generations Audrey Hepburn, but I always picture Rory in a tiara when she is dressed up. Granted this isn’t a look for the grocery store, but for special occasions, a tiara can distinguish you from all the other women who are wearing black dresses. Plus they are just fun to wear, I wear one to do household tasks when I don’t feel like vacuuming. Keep the tiara small so it looks like it could be real and that you didn’t steal it from a Beauty Queen. The tiara should be so small it almost loooks like a comb iconicon
